Costco doesn't discount the membership fee itself. The deals are Shop Cards for joining, and Costco's group offers for students, teachers, health workers, first responders, government employees and military members pay the same Shop Card, verified through a partner first.

The Shop Card offers are for new members only: Costco says that means anyone who hasn't been a member in any role (primary, household or affiliate) in the last 18 months. Auto-renewal has to be set up on a Visa credit or debit card or a Mastercard debit card. Costco doesn't say whether the Costco Visa offer can be combined with the auto-renewal Shop Card, so check the terms on the join page before you count on both.

Does Costco have a senior discount?
No. Seniors pay the same membership fee as everyone else, and Costco doesn't list a senior discount on its membership page or a senior discount day. Does Costco have senior hours?
Not anymore. Costco ran special shopping hours for members 60 and older during the pandemic, and ended them on April 18, 2022. Today, the early hour belongs to Executive members, who can shop from 9 a.m. on weekdays at most warehouses. See Costco hours for the full schedule.
Does Costco have a military discount?
Not a standing one. Costco doesn't take a percentage off for military members or veterans, and military members pay the same fee. Costco's join page does list a sign-up offer for military members, verified online through SheerID, as of October 20, 2026: a $40 Digital Shop Card for joining as Executive or $20 for Gold Star.
